Will the iPad be the most important thing S. Jobs has ever done?

I like the bookstore

the animations are mad sweet

Is that compelling enough to buy the device Tyler?

yeah

the price point is nice

Not a bit expensive? Saw early reports of $500-$800, plus a telco contract?

little expensive

i like it though

Why?

i dunno, its flashy

LOL!

That's all it takes?

yeah from apple

koolaid!

Too expensive for me (compared to the iPhone). For the price, it's Apple, so price has to be more expensive.

Part of their strategy ("I buy an Apple product, not everyone can because of the price, so I am different from the others")

the fact it can run all the iphone apps is nice too

logmein.com on ipad will be epic

i'll finally get my 30 bucks out of it heh

and games/movies on the bigger screen i think will be a big plus

ironically i said it was flashy but it doesn't run flash hehe. oh well i think/hope/wish html5 is gonna overtake flash

also better to write emails

yeah the email app looks pretty cool

it will be nice for subway/in the car stuff where a laptop is a bit cumbersome

having just bought a laptop after never owning one before. i can easily see a lot of situations where i would rather have an ipad

hahaha for the Flash one! Apparently Adobe said Flash apps will work on the iPad (Techcrunch article).

Edited 2 Years ago

interesting.... since its browser dependant. meaning if ipad is getting it, iphone probably isn't too far away

Yes, I do agree on the fact that I wouldn't take my laptop on the bus/subway to read/watch a movie. Not sure I would even do it with the iPad.

oh yeah, good point for the iphone.

have you seen this video?

btw, you guys should support oembed

ROFL for the video!

I was surprised at the name.

So now they have iPod, iPad...

iPed next? Something for the feet?:P

The name is terrible...

It isn't so bad...

Check this list of "8 things that suck about the iPad"

I did like the iSlate

iPad is too close to the iPod.

No camera?!

Wow.... I'm surprised

I believe it will do wonders for media such as ebooks and all forms of digital media, but it wont nearly the same affect as the iPhone or iPod did

islate kinda sounds like islut

I wonder if google is going to release a tablet

After discussing with a few others in the industry, I'm a little more optomistic or even slightly enthused as to what the iPad actual means... The iPad in itself is nothing special, or should i say iPad Gen1. The iPad is Jobs way of putting something out onto the market for testing... as apple have been very successful in this area where Microsoft have not. The iPad is actualy Apples first Gen market test for surface computing (coinfrased by Microsoft) see Microsofts surface computing here

Microsoft have been working for some time on surface computing... we're talking like "Minority Report" type computing here. With Apple now releasing the iPad, this has set the benchmark and the competition will now work to improve on that benchmark. While apple is testing the market (without the Microsoft stigma), they are also continueing to focus on the surface computing and will imporve there Gen1 iPad product throughout the next few generations, adding the things that they want to put in, and taking feedback from the market.
