Assisted GPS for new Blackberry

I'm having great difficulty in finding an assisted GPS provider to use on the new Blackberry 9700 in Australia. For obvious reasons (I'm going to have to pay for the service!) I'm trying to get my head around who has the best service available. I've been asking about on the Blackberry Support Forum and have been suggested Nav4All but they're no longer and Telmap. I've been in touch with Telmap and they tell me in Australia their software is upported through Optus, which is no good as fisrtly I'm with 3 and secondly they don't have a version for the 9700! Anyone got anything to add to help me on my way?

I'm keeping an eye on this thread as I also have the same issue, might duck into a 3 shop and ask if they know...

I wouldn't bother, I've been onto 3 business and their Blackberry dept who tell me they don't support or suggest any provider.... Unbelievable isn't it!

Google are releasing a turn by turn voice navigator called Google Maps Navigation, its currently only available on the Android phone.. It will be released on other types of phones soon so I'd wait on that before purchasing one. Rumour has it Google Maps Navigation will be free!

I've been waiting for Google to do something but me thinks it's going to be a while before they get the Blackberry9700 sorted! I sadly i need a solution now....

I haven't tried it yet but you might want to look at 'amAze' if you haven't already...

The 9700 found it's way into the shops in Kingston yesterday. Pretty exciting. Here's the Jamaica Observer

@ beertech. Neat man. Any idea when it will follow on the iPhone? Perhaps they will hold it back to encourage users to Go Android.

BTW Voice Turn by Turn is pretty key and to run the device through your car Bluetooth to get decent volume. Have you tried driving whilst following Google Maps on a device? Fine if you have a passenger but if not makes texting seem like baking cakes. You try it. More dangerous than sky diving..

The other thing @Rob is don't bother with fancy car brackets (if one is available). The screen is too small and far away. You'll need it in your lap to set the map and probably in your hand if you want to see where you're going.

@Bobby untill recently I used the Nokia n95 with Nokia maps, worked well albeit on subscription. Really all I need is the voice guidance and someone other than me for the wife to argue with about directions, it has happened!

haha whilst complementary opposites within a greater whole, unfortunately she's not much of an assitance when it comes to directions. hence my quest here...

Strange somehow I always got the impression she told you where to go and how to get there on a regular basisLaughing
