Avatar and Titanic

Edited 2 Years ago

Now that my tears are dried after the bombing of Yggdrasil, it's clear to see that «Avatar» is about our own senseless destruction of our own forests and our own indigenous populations. As I mentioned (see below), we lose about 2000 trees a minute only in the Amazon, and globally 200,000 come out of the forests every day to settle in the shanty towns looking for a job. Two. Hundre. Thousand. A day.

When Yggdrasil itself – the world tree in our Norse mythology – is attacked, bombed and felled by an enormous force of idiotic military heads, the whole thing gets very extreme. And it's brought to these extremes. I never thought my tears would be running during this movie, but they did. And I guess they did because our entire planet today's like Titanic - coincidentally this director's previous feature film.

Our entire Earth is going down – we're in the midst of the 6th great extinction event, and the first one that's primarily caused by human activity. And we could just use an ally like James Cameron in order to wake today's teenagers up from  their consumerist hypnosis: We need you NOW! as fighters for the woods, the animals and the plants. Neither Støre, Gore nor Vidd can flip people out of the hypnosis like «Avatar».

I wish I could reach out to the kids of today with just one thing: We MUST seize power! What you see all around you may seem like a democracy, because you are so young, but it is in no way a rule by the people. Just look at how the oil corporations develop the Lofoten Islands without paying any attention to what we think. It's not enough to have your say, or to be heard and arrested. We have to take control. Fight for a real democracy.

Only this way we can treat Nature in sensible ways. For no human beings want to see the planet die.
