iPad released, will you get one?

Apple's new product has just been released. Bigger than an iPhone and smaller than laptops, it will be a must-have to go online watching TV, reading while seating on the bus or even playing games...

Some elements are missing (USB, multitasking, ...) but will it stop you buying one ?

I haven't yet seen what they will retail for? Look beautiful. How much do they weigh? Will they scratch like and iPhone.

So no USB. If you want more storage, what do you do? Proprietary Mac device?

After playing with it for a few hours, his impressions were mostly positive. Typing on the on-screen keyboard wasn't as comfortable as using a laptop with a regular keyboard, and Thammineni said he found himself using several fingers but not touch-typing normally. Still, he said, it was much easier to use than a Kindle keyboard.

But the weight of the device might keep him from typing on the go. Thammineni said that after about two minutes of holding up the device with one hand and typing with the other, it got too heavy, even at a mere 1.5 pounds.

Battery life I see from your Twitter stream is tops ... 9 hrs.

For the USB, you will have to transfer everything from your laptop using for example iTunes. But other programs are coming on.

those who know me understand I have an appreciation of gadgets & toys ... especially if high-tech in nature! So, looking forward to seeing an iPad in action ... but already having an iPhone (there is no substitute for me) and a late model MacBook I just don't see where the iPad fits in.

a nine hour battery life is pretty impressive!

You will also be able to send PDF's by mail...

@Barn: It seems pretty cool using it in the train for example.

Just waiting for 2nd or 3rd version tho', too many things are missing (camera, multitasking, usb...)
