Your Facebook Profile May Be Sold by Russian Hacker

Be careful with your Facebook account. A hacker apparently stole the login/password of more than 1.5 million people.

Good topic, you have to be careful with FB.

You should be careful with their "Like" function on other websites.

George Orwell was onto something when he wrote the book 1984. Just 20 years ahead of reality.

Yeah Pete, everyone thought Google was the threat, really thinking that FB is the real one...

yup, spooky stuff but also requires a certain degree on online intelligence sadly which most facebook users don't have

Agreed 100%. Too much of a desire to accept friends and share photos and not enough to actually spend 5 minutes of that session thinking if something is safe

Similar thing happened with Playstation 3 recently a scam site offering free purchase credit for online purchases with PS3. All you have to do is give them your user name and password...........

In FB's case, I think people act on it as if they were in real life: all their friends/family are with them in the same place... why being afraid?

Didn't know about the PS3 scam. The same happens with Twitter with third-party websites getting users data just by asking them their login/passwords

How to surf safely on the Internet should definitely be a course in every class.

Yup, regarding the PS3 scam. People actively promote it unknowingly thinking it is legit. Despite our rapidly evolving tech and social online infrastructure there is still more spam and harmful communications than ever. Twitter frequently being hacked is just one of many. I'd like to see some more time and resources invested into protecting a community rather than monetizing it. How hard can it be to block a spambot posting messages about viagra in a technology site for example?
