When will a Brit actually win a British sporting event?

So Wimbledon been and gone, still no sign of glory. Henman was a false idol. Murray seems decent. Are there any signs of light for Brits to win an event that has it's major location on home turf?

Of course, it only involves beating a not-so-strong Aussie team..... but I can't help but be optimistic

We don't have the sporting infrastructure in place to support local talent like in US, Europe or even Oz.

In the US the college system is a giant machine for sporting talent we don't have this in UK an that's a giant problem

Oh really? I had no idea. Had assumed that they had something in the education system. Maybe from hearing the rowing stories from Oxford & Cambridge...

I think you have to face the existence that the British are just not good at sport. They are good shop keepers.

We'll settle for the English language Jean-Pierre. We won hands down there in the most important competition of all.
