Alice Cooper was on Aussie B'fast TV today. 61. Never drank, smoked, taken drugs Christian who is still eating bats on stage. (OK, we won't go there). Anyway the interviewer raised the death of MJ without there being a question around it. AC took it upon himself to say this which I find really interesting:
"I had known Michael since he was 5. I am absolutely convinced he did not have sex with boys. It was not in his being. HOWEVER he was too big a star. And the problem is when you are that big (like Elvis) that nobody around you ever has the guts to tell you were you are doing / the way you are behaving is inappropriate or plain strange. NOBODY TOLD MICHAEL HE WAS NOT PETER PAN AND NOBODY TOLD HIM IT WAS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE TO HAVE 12 YEAR OLD BOYS SLEEPING IN HIS ROOM."
Back to Alex now .. I think Alice is on the money.
Kudos to Mr. Cooper for event touching such a potential landmine.
There is some validity is what he says, there are plenty of stories from those close to the stars that their wealth, plethora of "baby sitters" and large mansions do often pull of veil over their faces
As much I am sorry that MJ passed on, his addiction to plastic surgery and pharmceuticals could not have helped him.
There was a recent article where once of his formed helpers explained something along the line of when trying to tell MJ something important that he did not want to hear (drug abuse, children in never never land etc) he would give that person a glance that meant either this conversation is finished or you are!
I agree with you jimmy. Goof for Alice launching into such a troubling subject without even a prompt; and yes your final para affirms what he was saying. Now I come to think about it, this type of 'my way or the highway' attitude is not limited to mega rock & movie stars.
I totally agree with AC. The poor guy never had a cance and clearly his guiding lights, particularly at a parental level were non-existent. Loved his music and just feel totally sorry that he was allowed to develop into this unguided wierdo whose persoanl activities and grooming practices were just plain bizarre to most of the rest of the world, including most of his fan-base...all very sad
Whether he was a paedophile or not, only the children he bedded can say. And some of them say he was and others say he wasn't. And some of them lined up for a handout and some of them didn't. He was never convicted of being such. However, there were a host of other aspects to his behavior and character that were deeply strange to say the least, and these were enough to put me off him when he was alive and I see no reason to change this because he, albeit very sadly - even tragically, has died. To see him championed after death by many of his peers as a leader of the black civil rights movement, pretty much on the strength of singing "Black or White" when he had systematically bleached himself white was bizarre to say the least. To Chalks's comment that "he was allowed to develop into this unguided weirdo", one would have to ask at what point does the concept of personal responsibility get flushed down the sewer? I haven't followed the circus recently but the I last heard the Doctor might face manslaughter charges. This is the guy Jackson paid to both obtain and administer the medical concoctions he was addicted to, there clearly are issues of personal responsibility here too, and indeed elements of shakespearian tragedy.
SNIP "To see him championed after death by many of his peers as a leader of the black civil rights movement, pretty much on the strength of singing "Black or White" when he had systematically bleached himself white was bizarre to say the least."
I'm with you brother.
