I recently came across some bizaar names for shops that have double entendre written all over them!! Mostly this is a cultural diifference but.....
First is "The Athletes Foot" .jpg)
Which is also the name of an unfortunate foot fungal infection
Yuck ![]()
Even more bizaar is the Asian clothing store called "Wanko" I kid you not.
I honestly can not understand what they were thinking during the QA process. "Yes I think Wanko is a wonderful name that captures the spirit of quality clothing".
If anyone does not know the meaning of this double entendre then I'm not going to explain as it may be NSFW
The best one I've seen recently is a Frozen Yoghurt store called
For those of us not down with the U.S. lingo, the words "Yo Mama" and "Yo Momma" are a standard opening for the now famous series of ongoing jokes that poke fun at peoples Mothers. They are kind of like the new milleniums Knock Knock jokes.
Yes, I've never really got the Athlete's Foot thing. They're big in Oz too. However squirm making the association they sell an awful lot of trainers!
The enterprise of "The Athletes Foot" is strong, so in Wanko. It doesn't change the humour value of those crazy names. As for Yo Mama, whoever thought that it was a good name should go back to theirs!
To be fair, 'wanko' doesn't mean the same in Asia. Doubt it means anything. Isn't it a predominantly English/Aussie term? (the double entendre)
Well yes "Wanko" verbatim does not mean too much but it is a very close derivative of something else that is a English/Aussie word.
LOL Pizza Schmizza could make this list
