So the PSP Go is released next week (depending on where you live). Firstly let me compare the old PSP(s) with the new one
And now the new
The biggest problem is that the new PSP GO is 100% digital with no physical media available for it.
Whilst this is not a problem in itself for anyone who owns a previous PSP, there is no solid plan in place to allow users to transfer their existing collections to digital.
In effect Sony are asking everyone to "bite the bullet" and re-buy their collections again. Yikes.
You mean the new one doesn't read old version games?
indeed
old games are on a UMD essentially a mini CD
... and new version games?
all digital downloads
you buy and download of the PSP stores online
Wow. No discs at all. Hmmn. And the original doesn't have internal memory?
They just finished the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) and everyone was expecting Sony to announce migration plans on how to move your physical collection to digital for the new hardware but they were extremely silent on this
The original can handle up to 32GB of SD memory
new one up to 64GB I believe
Problem is how can you migrate a userbase to new hardware when they will have to re-buy all their old games again or "throw them away"?
now a good case study for consumer loyalty management
anyone with experience in these areas I'd like to hear how they would turn this potential "egg on the face" launch around
This is bs! (excuse my language)
I have an old one, and there is no way I'm getting the GO. GO. Good name. GO ELSEWHERE
Wow. I'm amazed unicronic.
I mean, the GO is they way to go. Sounds like they're trying to emulate the App Store model of Apple.
But if I had the old one, I'd be mad. Agree with rippedoff from that view.
I guess they could be nice about it and allow people who have the old one, and have bought the games to download the same games for the GO for free. Just show some good will I guess.
