MEXICO CITY — It took six months of intelligence work for the police to corner a man suspected of being one of western Mexico's top drug bosses. But retaliation came swiftly, as his lieutenants struck repeatedly in the two days after his arrest.

U.S. Arrests Hundreds in Raids on Drug Cartel
Staging raids in 19 states, the Justice Department struck this week at one of Mexico’s most ruthless drug-trafficking organizations, a cultlike group known as La Familia Michoacana and notorious for beheading its enemies. Calling it the largest strike ever undertaken against a Mexican drug cartel, US Attorney General announced the arrests of 303 people in the past two days, the latest action in a four-year investigation. Here are some of them:
My question is this? The authorites in the US and Mexico are evidently throwing alot of resource at this pandemic. BUT, will what they are doing make even a dent on supply?
its a bit like trying to fight a tidal wave with a stick
its a war no one will ever win but still have to go through the motions
if people used more maybe they would run out of supply haha
Not sure that legalizing certain drugs will solve the problem either. Example: Holland faces the same problems with chemical drugs. I agree with jupie, by saying it's a war no one will ever win.
Interesting article and amazing pictures on this 2009 UN World Drug Report . Apparently "2009 marks "the end of the first century of drug control"
It's a GREAT ASS of a problem and you're right 'legalization' whilst taking the product above ground and thus away from the criminals has not been shown to reduce consumption. On the other hand jupie's solution is interesting!
But then we might all look like this
Interesting thread Bobby... and that drug-submarine with 10 tons of coke on board too... crazy. Just passed this onto a few guys at work now they're all reading it. Massive drug bust this one... has gone global headline news.
Not wrong asianpunter. From the expression on Ozzi'e face seems he might have been sitting on quite a large stash.
Interesting seeing this now. I was listening to Make all Drug Use Legal earlier this week.
There were some very convincing points made for the position. Recommended listening for sure.
