wow you think that is realistic?
actually i just had a peek at the link Loic sent.. 'gary' gives an insight into where his stats come from. interesting stuff... we all better have more babies or the count will run out!
Impressive. Added to that there is just no way the numbers coming from the internet user's fastest growing market - China - can be fully accurate there. Who knows exactly how fast the internet and internet related revenues are growing in China... but if I had to guess I would say Chinese netizen numbers will be under represented on the above.
well im not sure how many of them use twitter/facebook etc arent some of them banned there? but if you did the figures for QQ etc........!!!!
tanglerlive wasnt on the list... Gary has obviously overlooked.. schoolboy error

China block Facebook and Twitter every now and again from what I heard. Just checked this online and it said this is normal for China - they also unblock on a regular basis too - but has been a bit different since the riots in western China (Xinjian Province) in July. The Chinese have been more strict since then. I guess an important space to watch here.
Tanglerlive will be on the Social Media Count list in 2010. ![]()
Interesting trend (unsurprisingly) on that global map... spot the yellow spots of no connectivity... Somalia (global 21st century pirate central). Myanmar (Burma), North Korea and Afghanistan all stick out like sore thumbs.
Such nice and friendly places of equal opportunity and global transparency. NOT.
Yet another reason to love the web.
The web helps create world peace. Bottom line: over 90% of that map is now purple. Not a bad thing.
I think most of the figures are realistic. I agree with asianpunter about China, we don't really know the figures but most of them are not using services like Facebook or even Google.
@koogle: Great stats ! Nice countries where there isn't any connectivity... Would be great to know what countries have limited connectivity (Internet controlled by the government). I also would have though that there would have been more French and Spanish speaking online with Africa and South America..
"The web helps create world peace." : not really sure about this...
@koogle : should companies block services like Twitter or Facebook ?
i dont think so, but i came across a friend of mine the other day she said she gets a monthly review of her 10? most popular websites used at work... one way to police it i guess then at least people would use them a little more sensibly
good idea ! Did she got any results doing this way ?
